Fathers have done many wonderful things for their families. Some fathers have done horrible, shameful, and sinful things to their families. When you look at God as your Father you may get a wrong idea about God based on how your earthly father has treated you.

A true father is someone who loves you and wants you to have wonderful things. A father is someone who wants to guide you with his wisdom. He tries to show you the right way to save you from consequences that he may have suffered. A father will lovingly discipline you to help you remember what is wrong and what is right. God is this kind of father.

God wants to be your Father. You can have this relationship with Him by accepting His free gift of salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Your sin must be forgiven before you can have a relationship with God. This is the very reason why you must accept God’s sacrifice for your sin.
